We started VeraMap because a dad of four found out what his family’s location app was actually doing with the data — selling it to insurance companies, data brokers, and hedge funds. He didn’t want to write a blog post about it. He wanted to build the alternative. The full origin is on the Our story page.
This is the blog now. Here’s what you can expect from it:
- How the encryption actually works. Plain English. Real diagrams. We’ll show you exactly what our server sees, because the answer is “almost nothing” and we think that’s worth showing.
- What we’re shipping. Public roadmap, public votes, public outcomes. If a feature ships, we’ll write about why. If one doesn’t, we’ll write about that too.
- Stories from families. Not testimonials — stories. The mom who finally got her kids off Life360. The dad who travels for work. The teen who actually doesn’t mind being on the family map because Ghost Mode exists.
If you want to read about a topic we haven’t covered, suggest it inside the app. The roadmap isn’t just for features.
